Otentic Eco Tent Experience

Accommodation: Based on the east coast of Mauritius in a small village called 'Deux Freres' on the bank of Grande Riviere South East, Otentic is the first and only tented Glamping site in Mauritius. 12 safari tents are made of canvas and are covered with a fly-sheet to protect from the rain and a knitted shade net to protect from the sun. Each tent covers an area of 50 square meter (10 X 5M) and has its own bathroom and toilet. Each tent can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children (one double bed and two or three single beds) or up to 4 adults (one double bed and two single beds. 2 wooden chalets each have a small terrace under the shade of mango trees. They both have 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and can also accommodate up to 2 adults and 3 children. The objective of Otentic is to have the least possible environmental impact. Otentic was built exclusively from wood and recycled material. Bathrooms are made of demolition wood recovered from old creole houses. Bath sinks are carved from a single piece of wood and are positioned on old wooden doors. Bed mattresses are on transportation palettes and potato boxes are used for storage. Waste is sorted, rainwater harvested, and energy is produced through photovoltaic panels and solar water heaters.

Experience: The lodge is ideally located at canoeing distance halfway from the waterfall and the crystal 22kms lagoon of ile aux cerfs. The east coast of Mauritius is still very wild. Explore the numerous fisherman villages along this coast by bike. Paddle up the river to the waterfall or explore the beautiful mangroves islets surrounding ile aux cerfs on your own paddle board. Go for a trekking excursions alongside the river and on top of the hill at the back of Otentic, or for a snorkeling excursions at 'Eau bleu' spot. Have fun at the Tennis volley / Beach Tennis / Volley ball court and the Petanque area, a great way to end up your day sharing some sporting moments with family and friends. Two other activities that are put forward at Otentic are Kite surfing and Paddle Boarding. Friendly staff, who all live nearby the lodge, will make sure that you discover their region, the east coast of Mauritius, probably the most beautiful coast of the island.
 
Dining: The pool-side restaurant overlooking the river serves delicious Mauritian specialties. In the morning, a complimentary continental breakfast made exclusively of fresh local products will be served. Freshly brewed espresso coffee, homemade yogurt and 100% natural fruit juices will provide you the energy needed to kick-start your day. For lunch Mauritian specialties with plenty of seasonal vegetable chutneys will be served. For diner, the menu is grilled meat, fish or sea food on the BBQ with some very typical local side dishes.
